Home ground

Arapahoe County is where Haka Decks lives — our shop is in Centennial, and most of our crew drives less than half an hour to work each morning. The county stretches from the old streetcar suburbs of Englewood and Littleton through the big 1970s-to-90s neighborhoods of Centennial and south Aurora, with the horse properties of Cherry Hills Village and the office parks of Greenwood Village in between. It is established, treed, and largely built out — which means the deck work here is less about new construction and more about what happens when an entire generation of wood decks gets old at the same time.

Where we build in Arapahoe County

Centennial is home — the shop is here, and so is more of our work than anywhere else. Littleton brings older housing stock and some of the county's best-loved backyards; Englewood is compact lots where a well-designed deck earns its footprint twice over. Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills Village run to larger properties where the structure and the railing detail carry the project, and Aurora — the county's biggest city — spans everything from 1970s ranches to brand-new subdivisions at the eastern edge.

Permits: mostly city counters

Unincorporated Arapahoe County addresses file with the county, but most homes here sit inside a city, and Centennial, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, and Aurora each run their own building departments. Typical metro review runs one to three weeks with fees in the $150–$500 range, varying by counter. None of that lands on you: we confirm the jurisdiction for your address, prepare the drawings and packet, and manage inspections through sign-off. The permit guide explains the process if you like knowing how it works.

Replacement country

Walk any street in Centennial or south Aurora and you can date the houses by the decks: pressure-treated platforms from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, most of them past the age where staining helps. This is the most common project we quote in the county — pulling an aged-out wood deck and building an engineered composite deck that ends the refinishing cycle for good. Where the frame is still sound, a re-deck saves real money; where it is not, we say so and price a proper replacement. If you are not sure which side of that line your deck is on, our deck safety inspection guide is a fair place to start, and the repair cost guide has honest numbers.

Shade, structure, and the long game

The county's mature trees help, but plenty of these backyards still bake, and a pergola or covered section is the difference between a deck used in June and one used all year. On walkout and view lots, the railing decision usually matters more to the finished result than the deck boards do. Everything we build carries the same guarantee, and our process is the same whether the job is three streets from the shop or across the county.

From Centennial, nearly all of Arapahoe County is inside a twenty-minute drive — which means fast site visits, easy mid-build presence, and scheduling that flexes around you. Run the cost calculator or the composite deck cost guide for numbers, then tell us what you are planning.

Questions

Deck questions Arapahoe County homeowners ask.

Who issues deck permits in Arapahoe County?

Unincorporated addresses file with Arapahoe County, but most of the county's homes sit inside a city: Centennial, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, and Aurora each run their own building departments. Typical metro review runs one to three weeks and $150–$500 in fees, depending on the counter. We identify the right jurisdiction for your address, prepare the packet, and manage inspections through final.

What does a deck cost in Arapahoe County?

Capped composite runs about $40–$70 per square foot installed, which puts a typical 300–400 square foot deck around $15,000–$30,000 with railing and stairs. Because this is our home county, site visits are easy to schedule and quotes come from your actual yard, not a formula. The calculator gives you a planning range in thirty seconds.

My deck is original to the house — repair or replace?

That is the defining Arapahoe County question, because so much of the housing here went up between the 1970s and the 1990s and the original wood decks are aging out together. We inspect the frame — the ledger connection to the house especially — and answer in writing. Sound framing earns a re-deck in new composite for meaningfully less than starting over; framing that is finished gets a replacement on current-code structure.

Do you really serve the whole county?

Yes, and more easily than anywhere else we work — our shop is in Centennial, so most of the county is within about twenty minutes. That proximity shows up as faster site visits and more flexible build scheduling. Price and warranty are the same everywhere we build.

Peter was great to work with. He really listened to what I needed and came up with a custom plan for our deck. I would highly recommend working with Haka!
