Home ground
Arapahoe County is where Haka Decks lives — our shop is in Centennial, and most of our crew drives less than half an hour to work each morning. The county stretches from the old streetcar suburbs of Englewood and Littleton through the big 1970s-to-90s neighborhoods of Centennial and south Aurora, with the horse properties of Cherry Hills Village and the office parks of Greenwood Village in between. It is established, treed, and largely built out.
Where we build in Arapahoe County
Centennial is home — the shop is here. Littleton brings older housing stock and some of the county's best-loved backyards; Englewood is compact lots where a well-designed deck earns its footprint twice over. Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills Village run to larger properties where the structure and the railing detail carry the project, and Aurora — the county's biggest city — spans everything from 1970s ranches to brand-new subdivisions at the eastern edge.
Permits: mostly city counters
Unincorporated Arapahoe County addresses file with the county, but most homes here sit inside a city, and Centennial, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, and Aurora each run their own building departments. Typical metro review runs one to three weeks with fees in the $150–$500 range. None of that lands on you: we confirm the jurisdiction for your address, prepare the drawings and packet, and manage inspections through sign-off. The permit guide explains the process.
Replacement country
Walk any street in Centennial or south Aurora and you can date the houses by the decks: pressure-treated platforms from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, most of them past the age where staining helps. This is the most common project we quote in the county — pulling an aged-out wood deck and building an engineered composite deck that ends the refinishing cycle for good. Where the frame is still sound, a re-deck saves real money; where it is not, we say so and price a proper replacement. Shade, structure, and the long game
The county's mature trees help, but plenty of these backyards still bake, and a pergola or covered section is the difference between a deck used in June and one used all year. On walkout and view lots, the railing decision usually matters more to the finished result than the deck boards do.
