The metro's north side
Adams County runs from the metro's inner ring out onto the plains northeast of Denver — Westminster and Northglenn against the Jefferson County line, Thornton up the I-25 corridor, Commerce City along the river and refineries, Brighton out where the county seat meets farmland turning into subdivisions. Housing follows the same pattern: 1960s-70s ranches and split-levels in the first-ring suburbs, newer production neighborhoods filling in toward Brighton.
Where we build in Adams County
Each major city has its own page, with permitting and housing detail: Thornton, the county's largest city and the heart of its I-25 growth corridor; Northglenn, a compact 1960s planned suburb where original decks are a fact of life; Brighton, the county seat with the newest housing stock; Commerce City, from the historic core to the fast-growing Reunion neighborhoods; and Westminster, which straddles the Adams-Jefferson line with housing from every decade since the 1950s.
A county of aging decks
A wood deck built with the house in 1972 — or even a replacement from the 1990s — is past the point where staining fixes anything. We inspect the structure before quoting: sound framing can carry a re-deck in new composite for meaningfully less than starting over, while failing ledgers or heaved footings make a full replacement the honest call. Permits, city by city
Thornton, Northglenn, Brighton, Commerce City, and Westminster each run their own building departments — Northglenn's building services come through its contracted provider, SAFEbuilt — and unincorporated Adams County addresses file with the county's building department instead. Typical metro review runs one to three weeks with permit fees in the $150-500 range, and we prepare the drawings, file at the right counter, and manage inspections. What we build here
Most projects here are composite decks with railing systems chosen to fit the house, and a growing share add a pergola or patio cover for shade on treeless newer lots. Capped composite is our default here for the same reasons it is everywhere on the Front Range: hail, UV, and freeze-thaw are hard on wood; composite answers all three with soap and water.
